About me
In my work, my objective is to combine knowledge of pediatric surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Pediatricians differ from internal medicine doctors. In almost the same way pediatric plastic surgeons are different from general plastic surgeons. Juveniles can have complex problems that most plastic surgeons do not see on a regular basis. These require special skills and sufficient amount of knowledge to treat.
Pediatric plastic surgeons treat children with diseases resulting from e.g. congenital defects, giant naevi, skin lesions, developmental issues, trauma, scars, infection, or tissue deficiencies after certain surgeries. Although the procedures are usually reconstructive not literally cosmetic, this distinction is not always clear in children, as many deformities affect both physical function and aesthetics.
Within the course of private practice specialist consultation, general examination and assessment are available and small outpatient surgical procedures can be performed under local anaesthesia. Childhood surgeries requiring general anesthesia are currently available in public health care setting, in a children’s hospital, because the necessary professional and infrastructural background is available there.
